Job Description
Under the guidance and direction of the Director of Fund Development, the Grant Writer will work to identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned programs. This role specifically focuses on securing unrestricted funding to support the organizations mission. The Grant Writer will work closely with both the Director of Fund Development and the Chief Advancement Officer to identify and pursue funding opportunities that contribute to the organizations financial sustainability and growth. The ideal candidate will bring great energy, a positive attitude, and a willingness to adapt on the fly in a dynamic work environment.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelors degree in English, Communications, Business, Nonprofit Management, or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit development, with a proven track record of securing grants
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to identify viable funding opportunities
  • Experience with writing grants in social services programs including entrepreneurship, housing, health, workforce development and/or K-12 education
  • Advanced proficiency is MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint Strong and engaging verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, and compelling narratives
  • Experience working with donor databases and grant management systems preferred
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM for data entry and record keeping
  • Ability to build effective business relationships with corporate and donor communities
  • Strong, results-oriented collaboration, project coordination and organizational skills
  • Willingness and ability to maintain a flexible work schedule when necessary consistent with the demands and needs of the executive team, volunteers, community leaders and related special events
  • Knowledge of nonprofit funding trends, grant compliance, and funder expectations
  • Passion for ULMSs mission and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
ULMS Total Compensation
