Job Description Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Job Specialty: Prior Authorization Nurse

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Day flexible between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., 5x8 hours

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience: Minimum one (1) year of nursing experience in a healthcare environment required

License: Minimum licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nursing (RN) License from the MN Board of Nursing

Certifications: Active professional affiliations and/or national certification related to clinical specialty preferred

Must-Have: - Knowledge of payer requirements and expectations regarding prior authorization - Familiarity with CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 - Proficient technology skills, including working with Microsoft Office Products

Job Description: - Promote the quality and cost-effectiveness of medical care by applying clinical acumen and policies and guidelines to requests for prior authorization. - Process authorizations, certifications, and referrals needed from payers to ensure maximum reimbursement for both the patient and the organization. - Check patient insurance benefits and eligibility to determine prior authorization requirements and inform patients of their estimated financial liability. - Adhere to Joint Commission requirements including sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, ethical treatment, safety and security, and compliance with National Patient Safety Goals. - Maintain professional and ethical behavior as outlined by licensing guidelines and company policies. - Serve patients with challenging and complex conditions by working in highly coordinated teams to organize care based on each patient's condition. - Communicate efficiently and effectively, fostering teamwork and building strong credible working relationships with clients, patients, and internal partners. - Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills-verbal, written, and listening. - Analyze and interpret clinical criteria, working independently with analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
