The Communications and Marketing Director is responsible for setting and managing the overall brand, marketing, and communication strategy for Xcel Energy Center, Saint Paul RiverCentre, and The Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium. This role involves overseeing initiatives that include public and media relations, sustainability efforts, business development, crisis communications, and marketing campaigns.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Leads the Marketing team to drive brand growth and achieve business goals:
Manages and leads the Marketing, Communications and Digital Media team. Leads sustainability marking and communications team. Sets and manages department budgets. Maintains internal and external relationships with individuals, partners, media and other community-based organizations.
Develops and executes strategic communications to enhance brand visibility and ensure consistent messaging across all channels:
Consistent messaging and content across a diverse array of communications platforms including venue websites, multiple social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, advertisements, etc. Providing strategy and responses with the crisis communications team to Xcel Energy Center, Saint Paul RiverCentre executive leadership. Serves as main liaison for Xcel Energy Center, Saint Paul RiverCentre and The Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium with news media. Develop and pitch story ideas to business, trade, sports and/or entertainment media related to events or news regarding Xcel Energy Center, Saint Paul RiverCentre and The Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium to increase media coverage locally, nationally and internationally. Lead press conferences, interview requests and media coverage requests. Act as venue spokesperson, as needed.
Lead innovative strategies to elevate venue and brand presence, driving engagement, ensuring exceptional customer experiences:
Develops, assesses and oversees marketing, public relations, brand standards, and communications policies and procedures. Creates brand guidelines and ensures consistency in brand usage (i.e., signage, décor, advertisements, social media voice, websites, etc.). Monitors issues and trends in the event, meetings and entertainment industry that could impact the organization. Position the venues as industry leaders and venues of choice for meeting planners and promoters (i.e., advertising and social media campaigns, developing and pitching media stories, seeking industry awards and recognitions, leadership speaking opportunities, etc.). Oversee all marketing and communications aspects of venues sustainability initiatives. Directs photography and videography needs of the venues and events. Oversee performing artist and client gifts procurement.
Create and execute event marketing strategies to boost brand visibility and drive engagement:
Directs team to execute comprehensive marketing, advertising and digital media campaigns for events seeking to maximize tickets sales, sponsorships and overall revenue generation.\ Create and execute high-impact, unique event announcements to create buzz for upcoming events. Key position for national, regional, and local events with responsibilities including strategic direction and management of all aspects of event marketing, promotions, advertising, and ticket sales. Lead community engagement, public relations, social media strategy and sales programs for these events. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Formal Education & Certification:
Seven to ten years of event or related-field marketing experience. Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or equivalent work experience. Knowledge & Experience:
Management and supervisory experience with track record of building exceptional teams. Familiarity with Microsoft-based products (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.). Training in crisis communications. Budget development and management experience. Proven digital and social media expertise is highly preferred. Experience in media relations, crisis communication, and brand management. Personal Attributes:
