News Reporter - GIR Application Deadline: 28 March 2025 Department: Content Editorial & Research Employment Type: Full Time Location: London Reporting To: Sam Fry Description We are looking for a News Reporter to join Global Investigations Review (GIR) in our London or Manchester office. GIR is a world-leading news source for cross-border government investigations and internal investigations, covering corruption, fraud, sanctions and other white-collar crime, with subscribers in government, the legal industry and the wider business community on six continents. GIR has journalists in London, Washington, DC, and New York. GIR’s UK journalists contribute to two regular news emails: a daily briefing covering general news and analysis on international corporate investigations, and a weekly specialized briefing covering international sanctions investigations and enforcement. Getting scoops and exclusives ahead of mainstream publications is a priority for the editors, and our narrow focus on corporate crime cases allows us to dig deeper into those stories. The successful candidate will be expected to spend significant amounts of time reporting from various courtrooms, gathering information from court documents, legal filings and hearings. If you are passionate about rigorous journalism and exceptional storytelling, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. Our hybrid working policy sees reporters generally working in the office or out on assignment three days a week. This is a unique opportunity to develop as a journalist in the UK capital; to build a strong network of sources in the legal community across the globe; and to produce original news, features and analysis. Key Responsibilities Covering enforcement agencies, court cases, conferences, law firms and political developments that shape the white-collar crime policy and enforcement landscape. Building a network in the UK and global legal white-collar crime community. Pitching and writing regular news stories as well as engaging features relevant to the publication. Taking on a range of tasks in the newsroom, from high-profile cover stories to nuts-and-bolts fact-gathering and research for data-led projects and regular surveys. Skills Knowledge and Expertise Degree in Journalism, Communications or Law, or equivalent work experience. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to find sharp angles in stories. Self-starter, confident in covering this critical and growing area of law and business. Team-oriented and collaborative outlook in newsrooms. Fluency in a second language would be an advantage.
