03-26-2025 ABOUT UC SANTA CRUZ UC Santa Cruz is a public university like no other in California, combining the experience of a small, liberal arts college with the depth and rigor of a major research university. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW This Associate Dean is a senior leadership position at UCSC Extension, which is a division of the University of California, Santa Cruz. The position oversees multiple programs, including adult professional education services, the PreMedPostBacc medical school preparation program, the college preparation program, and the Science Internship Program and high school assessments. JOB SUMMARY This position reports to the Dean and is delegated division-wide and primary responsibility for overseeing directly or through subordinate managers, the Extension's administrative services, operations, and academic programs. This includes responsibility for the division's workforce development, strategic planning, finance, marketing, facilities, student services, and coordination with IT. Regarding academic programs, this position will oversee the development and promotion of curriculum offerings, including online and in-person courses, as well as certificate programs. APPOINTMENT INFORMATION Budgeted Salary:
$128,800 - $159,650/year. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. Benefits Level Eligibility:
Full benefits Schedule Information: Full-time, Fixed Percentage of Time: 100%, 40 Hours per Week Days of the Week: Mon-Fri, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed JOB DUTIES Provides leadership in academic services, identifying curriculum needs, opportunities for improvement, and strategies for instructional quality assurance. Utilizes data analytics to monitor student performance and inform operational decisions. Advises the dean and coordinates activities with other UC locations or external universities. Plans, manages, and executes annual cultural, educational, and flagship programs. Serves as the chief administrative officer for the division, overseeing the annual budget and revenue goals. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Experience in a leadership role in the field of education. Demonstrated experience developing new markets and driving business growth. Strong knowledge of analytical methods used to drive decision making. Excellent project management and time management skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bilingual skills and fluency in multiple languages. Leadership experience in the UC system and/or other higher educational institutions. SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
