Job Duties
This position is to serve as the primary source of forest inventory analysis, forest utilization and marketing information. This includes the collection, interpretation and distribution of data concerning forest resources availability, harvesting and processing technology, primary and secondary producers, tax collections and loggers. The position is to build and expand upon the Department's knowledge base of traditional and emerging ecosystem service markets and help create awareness through education of partners, businesses and staff. The position is to seek innovative ways to utilize current forest resources to enhance and attract new business to support the Commonwealth's #3 economic industry. This approach will also be coupled with an attention towards supporting workforce development programs and strengthening our staff's ability to manage our forest resources to meet the needs of the future through novel, sound practices of forest management. This approach allows our landowners to diversify their market strategy and improve upon forest health through feeding multiple competitive markets and increasing raw product demand.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in forestry, natural resources, forest products, business administration or marketing.
Additional Considerations
Experience in business development, organizational design and demonstrated leadership abilities.
