The reporting location for this position is HQ in Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the direction of the Deputy Chief, Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Division.

This position will facilitate the goals and objectives of the Telecommunications program throughout the State of California.

The Assistant Chief of Telecommunications is responsible for the planning, direction, and operations management of the following Telecommunications Programs:

• The Telecommunications Unit (TU) providing public safety radio telecommunications systems and infrastructure for State Parks, including mobile and portable radios..

• The Communications Centers (CC) providing 24-hour law enforcement/public safety dispatch services for State Parks Districts and other contracting agencies.

• The Public Safety Technology Modernization (PSTM) project for the procurement, configuration, and deployment of a computer aided dispatch (CAD) system for State Parks law enforcement/public safety field operations. Future PSTM projects include the procurement and deployment of a public safety records management system (RMS), and mobile data computers (MDC).

• The Emergency Vehicle Installation program provides planning, direction and oversight of the Department's installation of emergency equipment in first responder vehicles.

This position requires some travel.
