The primary purpose of this position is to win new work for and establish the San Francisco Studio encompassing the following:
In collaboration with the firm leadership, the Studio Manager establishes the general direction and strategy for San Francisco Studio activities such as business development, client targeting, client relationship management, and staff management.
Make key decisions, including the overall Business Development and strategic direction of our San Francisco Studio and its organization.
Provide insights into a wide range of business issues impacting our core markets.
Extend MVE’s market position and reach with your established relationships to further drive our growth.
Meaningful compensation package based on the profitability of the new Studio with significant financial and intangible rewards.
Business Development and Sales
Market the business to potential clients and act as the primary sales force for the region.
Work with the Marketing team to build a regional presence.
Understand local markets, key players, and ongoing projects/competition and advise Leadership.
Studio Development and Staffing
Work with Resource Planning Team to assess manpower/project planning/forecasting needs; assist in recruiting, hiring, and retention as needed.
Identify areas for in-depth training for short and long-term advancement of the work.
Participate in staff management including performance reviews, compensation/salary discussion, employee discipline, and other staff programs.
Project Management and Execution
Primary contact for projects based in the San Diego Studio; create and nurture potential client relationships and strengthen existing ones in the area.
Responsible for technical execution of projects, revenue, and margin.
Manage projects from Concept through Construction.
Work with team leads for project assignment, scheduling, and timely execution.
Oversee and be responsible for proper execution, quality, client satisfaction, and delivery of the projects.
Liaise with the Business Services Dept. regularly to set financial revenue goals; and assisting in the invoicing/billing cycle.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Licensed Architect in California; NCARB registration preferred
15 years related experience preferred and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in the AEC Industry
Established client relationships in San Francisco Region and previous Business Development or Sales experience
Project experience in Multi-family, Student Housing, Affordable Housing, and Mixed-use.
