Position Summary:

Incumbent is involved in the operation of the medical centers network including telecommunications. Plans, designs, develops, installs and maintains communications network systems for the campus, medical center or Office of the President or a unit. Applies moderately complex professional communications concepts. Applies relevant policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Works on problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations and data requires a review of a variety of factors.

Hourly Rate

Minimum: $31.94 Midpoint: $44.35 Maximum: $56.75

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong computer skills in supporting large telephone switch equipment
  • Basic understanding of various network hardware platforms, network related protocols and software
  • Experience working with network diagnostic and performance management tools and software
  • Basic knowledge of professional communications and network concepts
  • Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer's technical manuals
  • Must work overtime as required to meet hospital needs
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must be available for on-call assignments or alternate work schedules
  • Prior experience in the installation and repair of telephone systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification on the AVAYA Telephone Switch
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
