The Philanthropy and Communications Manager will oversee and coordinate the development and execution of the organization's philanthropic initiatives, including fundraising campaigns, donor relations, and community outreach. This role will also manage communications strategies to increase visibility, enhance engagement, and support the organization's mission. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social impact, strong communication skills, and a proven track record in both philanthropy and communications.
This role typically works in an office/desk environment but may include occasional evening or weekend work to attend events or meetings. The position is Hybrid, with some in-person requirements at our office and the opportunity to work from home.
Benefits include a $500/month health reimbursement for employees; all regular, full-time employees accrue PTO time at a rate of 176 hours per year or 6.77 hours per pay period their first year; a mental health day each quarter; 9 holidays and a week-long Winter Break at the end of the year; there is a potential 1-time moving stipend, and 403(b) Retirement plan with a percentage employer match.
Responsibilities
Philanthropy Management: • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the organization's mission and goals. • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations. • Organize and manage fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives, both online and offline. • Track and report on fundraising progress, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping of donations and donor engagement. • Work closely with the senior leadership team to identify and pursue major gift opportunities.
Communications Strategy: • Develop and implement a strategic communications plan to enhance the organization's brand, visibility, and outreach efforts. • Oversee the creation and distribution of marketing materials, including press releases, newsletters, website content, and social media posts. • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all communications channels. • Manage media relations and secure media coverage that aligns with the organization's priorities and mission. • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication campaigns and make recommendations for improvement.
Donor and Community Engagement: • Design and implement donor recognition programs, including personalized thank-you letters, special events, and annual reports. • Serve as the main point of contact for donors, community leaders, events, and partners. • Build partnerships with local organizations, influencers, and stakeholders to increase community involvement and support for the organization's programs. • Organize volunteer opportunities, community events, and other engagement initiatives to strengthen the relationship between the organization and its supporters.
Reporting and Analytics • Maintain accurate data on donor contributions, outreach efforts, and communications impact. • Provide regular updates to the executive team on fundraising progress, communications outcomes, and community engagement activities. • Utilize analytics tools to track the effectiveness of communication efforts and adjust strategies accordingly.
Qualifications
Qualifications (preferred, not required): • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in philanthropy, nonprofit fundraising, or communications. • Proven success in developing and executing fundraising campaigns and building donor relationships. • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences. • Experience with social media platforms, website management, and digital marketing. • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Proficiency with fundraising software and communication tools (e.g., CRM systems, email marketing, analytics platforms). • A passion for social impact and a commitment to the organization's mission.
Preferred Skills: • Experience with major gift fundraising and corporate partnerships. • Knowledge of event planning and logistics. • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
