Graphic Designer, Data Visualization & Communication - 26326

We are currently seeking candidates for a Graphic Designer, Data Visualization & Communication opportunity with a top-tier Investment Management firm located in Boston, MA. The Graphic Designer will be involved with conceptualizing and creating innovative designs with engaging data visualization elements to illustrate understandable storytelling of complex financial information and data. The ideal candidate will have 8-10+ years of related design, communication, and data storytelling experience in financial services or investment management.

This is a 3-4 month contract position, paying $60-$75/hour (depending on experience). This position is required to be onsite 3 days/week in their Boston office.

Responsibilities:

1. Conceptualize and create innovative graphic designs with engaging data visualization elements to illustrate understandable storytelling of complex financial information and data.
2. Generate design concepts that explore data visualization and data storytelling, while simultaneously balancing originality and existing brand standards and guidelines.
3. Translate creative and abstract ideas into clear and compelling visual narratives.
4. Partner with internal teams to identify and understand firm objectives, business audiences, and financial data sets.
5. Provide guidance on visual hierarchy, layout, typography, and color usage in the context of data-heavy communications.
6. Illustrate various design directions through the creation and presentation of high-level wireframes, mood boards, and design prototypes.
7. Maintain integrity of brand standards and guidelines while introducing creative and original approaches to design and data visualization.
8. Leverage cross-functional collaboration and feedback to optimize design concepts.
9. Collaborate with data and content teams to ensure the integrity and clarity of information being visualized.
10. Provide additional support as needed.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communication, or related field (Required).
2. 8-10+ years of related graphic design, communication, and data storytelling experience.
3. Strong experience in data visualization and design in financial services or investment management industries.
4. Proven ability to simplify complex financial information through visual design and storytelling.
5. Strong skills in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and PowerPoint.
6. Ability to maintain integrity of brand standards while introducing creative and engaging approaches to firm design concepts.
7. Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
8. Experience utilizing data visualization libraries or tools, such as D3.js and Tableau.
9. Motion design or interactive prototyping skills (a plus).
