ABOUT THE POSITION
This role will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical illustrations, graphics and other imagery for use in technical manuals and other content for use by a general audience.
Key Deliverables
- Guides a team of technical illustrators to produce content that adheres to written standards and practices across multiple sites and product lines.
- Represent the Technical Communications group or Product Support department on cross-function or project teams.
- Develop and maintain standards for content development and training.
- Produce sketches, mock-ups, renderings, and other inputs required to create illustrations and graphics.
- Create and maintain photographs, illustrations, graphics and visual aids of equipment operation, maintenance and repair process steps based on engineering drawings, photographs, input from cross-functional team members, and observation.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
- Work with subject matter experts including design engineers, technicians, vendors and others to develop accurate and complete technical illustrations.
- Maintain and utilize a library of graphics related assets.
- Acquire a functional understanding of subject equipment in order to gain context for how illustrations will be used.
- Help maintain an efficient and successful production process.
- Work effectively within a dispersed team environment.
- This position assumes and performs other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
- Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in illustration.
- Four (4) or more years of illustration, graphic design, communications, or closely related experience. Eight (8) years of illustration, graphic design, or communications experience may be substituted for educational requirement.
- Manage multiple, simultaneous projects and be able to prioritize work effectively.
- Possess a basic understanding of concepts related to mechanical repair and maintenance.
- Proficient with common desktop publishing and illustration software including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
- Experience with MS Teams and Sharepoint platforms.
- Prefer experience in heavy equipment manufacturing industry.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment. Duties include a typical office setting including extensive computer work, sitting or standing.
