Position Summary
The Full-time Library Assistant delivers a high level of quality library services ensuring the provision of value-added experiences for all customers and performs routine tasks in support of the library.

Schedule:
Full Time Benefit Eligible, 40 hours per week
Mondays 11:00am – 8:00pm
Tuesdays - Thursdays, Alternating Fridays and Saturdays 8:00am – 5:00pm
Essential Functions
- Promote the library’s collection and services
- Perform circulation activities
- Provide service desk coverage
- Provide materials to appropriate bins for transfer
- Provide research assistance to customers
- Utilize integrated library systems software
- Assist customers at several service points
- Train and assist customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes
- Collaborate with Librarians to deliver programming and outreach services
- Assist with volunteer management
- Perform shelving and weeding duties
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of one year of customer service experience including library or retail.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of integrated library systems software (IE: Horizon)
Bilingual.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Knowledge of:
Alpha-numeric sorting systems, Various library systems, Telephone etiquette.
Skills:
Technology adeptness, Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, Excellent time management skills with attention to detail.
Abilities:
Adaptability, Communication, Collaboration, Technical/professional Knowledge and Skills, Work Standards.
Computer Skills:
Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Environment:
Works in an office setting with moderate noise. Will work in a setting with children and teens from neighboring schools and program attendees. Schedules will include some nights and weekends.
