Open until filled. Applications are being accepted for an Assistant Band Director - Brass Emphasis for the Camdenton R-3 School District. Qualified applicants will be responsible for providing direct instruction and for maintaining an environment conducive to meaningful learning; work collaboratively on leadership teams in the building; effectively and efficiently organize the learning experiences of all the students under the supervision of the teacher; revise and update curriculum and instructional strategies that will expand the range of knowledge of the students about the world in which they live; and, inspire students to new heights of self-achievement. This position will be split between middle school and high school.

Essential Functions:

• Collaborate with an established music staff on all aspects of a highly competitive marching band - specifically brass pedagogy.
• Be a contributing member of an excellence focused instrumental music program that prioritizes student growth and creating holistic musical experiences.
• Be open to personal growth and development as it contributes to their role within the overall program.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Create and lead instruction in all areas of the marching band brass pedagogy.
• Assist with the high school Wind Ensemble.
• Direct the high school Symphonic Band.
• Codirect the high school Concert Band.
• Teach a single semester music theory class.
• Assist with the 8th grade band.
• Teach a beginner brass class - either High Brass or Low Brass depending on the strengths of the candidate.
• Teach a beginner woodwind class - either flute or saxophone depending on the strengths of the candidate.
• Direct the high school pep band.

Administrative duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Maintain an organized inventory of all district wind instruments between both the middle school and high school, including frequency of repair and working quality of instruments.
• Work in conjunction with the Director of Bands to establish instrumental needs of the program.
• Communicate regularly with students and parents of ensembles they are responsible for directing.
• Any additional administrative needs deemed necessary by the Director of Bands.

Salary: $42,500.00
