Assistant Library Director - Full-Time Position

An employee in this class serves as a member of the management team and supervises and manages the daily functions of a library branch within the County. Employee participates in the annual budget and planning processes, policy and procedures development and modification, and implementation of any new services and programs. Work focuses on providing children and adult focused programs, community outreach, collection development, circulation services, technology services, and all the back office technical services associated with the Library. In addition, the role serves in the absence of the Library Director and leads technology services for the system. Management of the branch includes proper staffing and scheduling, ensures the adult and children’s collections and programming are meeting the needs of patrons, monitoring all purchasing and budget expenditures of the branch. Work is performed independently under the supervision of the Library Director.

LOCATION: Primary duty station for the position is located in Burnsville, N.C.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Library Science from an-accredited ALA Library school and considerable experience in library work at the professional level, including supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
