What You'll Do:

In the Development Writer role, you’ll be the lead storyteller. This position transforms the mission, impact, and aspirations of our organization into clear, persuasive content that deepens donor engagement and secures vital philanthropic and grant funding.

The Development Writer and Correspondent uncovers stories across the organization – interviewing clients and staff, gathering visuals, and weaving it all together into clear, emotionally resonate, and data-informed content. You will work closely with program teams and leadership. This position also requires a client-service mindset, strong cross-departmental collaboration, and follow-through in a fast-paced environment.

  • Manage agency-wide communications strategy to include traditional/print materials and electronic, social media, podcast, and website communications
  • Create compelling narratives that highlight program outcomes, client stories and the overall impact of Interfaith’s work – tailored for donors, grantors and community supporters
  • Collaborate with program staff and leadership to align stories and messaging with organizational priorities and strategic goals
  • Create, produce, and support the distribution of marketing and communications materials such as newsletters, annual reports, brochures, direct mailings, promotional campaigns and special event publications
  • Plan, draft and disseminate press releases and build relationships with media outlets to share Interfaith’s work with broader audiences
  • Maintain an archive of stories, visuals and content to support organizational communications and fundraising activities
  • Support special events of all sizes, including providing communication and storytelling support
  • Write and edit various content needs as assigned such as reports, letters, notes, program descriptions, agency descriptions, grant proposals and other writing projects
  • Establish relationships with donors of all types and appropriately move forward towards asking for charitable gifts
  • Participates in all staff meetings and trainings
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
Requirements:

Who You Are:


You're passionate about making a lasting impact, whether supporting individuals directly or enhancing our organizational effectiveness. To thrive in this role, you'll:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field, required
  • 3+ years of development, marketing, communications, media or public relations experience, preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, designing, and implementing strategic communications plans, preferred

Location: Onsite/Escondido


Hourly Rate: $23.00-$25.00


Hours: Hybrid: 2 days. In Office: Tuesday-Thursday (8am-5pm)
