Regular Strategic Communications Coordinator Position Description As a member of RAND’s Corporate Communications and Branding team, the Strategic Communications Coordinator will play a vital role in communicating RAND’s story with important policy audiences. Working under the guidance of the Director of Corporate Communications and Branding, the Coordinator will contribute to essential team priorities including brand management and external stakeholder engagement through meetings, events, and speaker programs. These initiatives aim to deepen connections between RAND and key audiences within the policy community. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and collaboration skills, excellent communication abilities, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for public policy and RAND’s research and mission. What You’ll Do: Host Partner Events:
Plan and execute a regular program of meetings, events, and speaker programs with external partner organizations primarily in RAND’s Washington office. Responsibilities include developing and driving event timelines, ensuring the integrity of contact lists, hosting visitors, and coordinating all meeting logistics.
Be a RAND Ambassador:
Serve as the first point of contact for visitors attending various meetings and events, ensuring a warm and professional welcome. Communicate effectively with guests to provide necessary information and represent RAND positively, fostering a memorable and favorable impression.
Coordinate Strategic Communications Initiatives:
Contribute to other strategic communications initiatives to raise awareness of RAND’s mission and impact. This includes coordinating integrated communications campaigns for major research releases and helping place researchers at premiere policy convenings.
Support the Brand Management program:
Help ensure that messages about RAND align with the organization’s voice and values, ensuring a cohesive and consistent brand identity across outreach materials, as well as meeting and event assets. Provide support for internal and external inquiries on the use of RAND logos and brand assets.
Qualifications The successful candidate will: Have 2-3 years of corporate communications, marketing, and stakeholder engagement experience, including experience organizing business-oriented events and convenings and with supporting speaker placements.
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas and plans concisely and persuasively, particularly for time-constrained senior-level audiences.
Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently while exhibiting exceptional organizational skills, taking initiative, and working collaboratively.
Have experience with building and maintaining professional relationships with key stakeholders.
Demonstrate operational adeptness with an emphasis on collaboration, quality, efficiency, and dedication to continuous improvement.
Writing Sample Required Candidates must submit samples of their work demonstrating their writing and content creation skills. Samples may include brand assets, corporate social media content, posters or flyers, or PowerPoint presentations. Education Requirements A bachelor’s degree is required. Experience Two to three years of relevant experience. Location This position is based in RAND’s Washington office in Arlington, VA. This position is eligible for RAND’s hybrid work environment, which enables a blend of on-site and remote work. On-site presence is required three days per week; specific on-site days will vary based on the employee events schedule. Salary Range:
$75,700 - $112,400 RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate’s work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity. The salary range includes base pay plus RAND’s sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken). In addition, RAND provides strong benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid time-off, and more.
