THE OPPORTUNITY:

Hudson County Community College (HCCC) seeks a Library Social Media Specialist (part-time) to join its award-winning and nationally recognized institution. This is an exciting time to be a part of the HCCC community.

Hudson County Community College serves one of the most ethnically diverse and densely populated communities in the United States. The College is a vibrant, urban institution of higher education whose mission is to provide its diverse communities with inclusive, high-quality educational programs and services that promote student success and upward social and economic mobility.

HCCC has two campus Libraries that provide welcoming common spaces that encourage exploration, creation, and collaboration between students, faculty, and a broader community. Our resources include a collection comprised of over 60,000 print and online books, 130 online databases, and approximately 67,000 periodicals (mostly online), nearly 2,000 DVDs, and a number of select streaming videos.

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Dean of College Libraries, the Library Social Media Specialist will be responsible for creating, editing, and posting engaging social media content to promote library services, programs, and events.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to promote library services, resources, programs, and events.
  • Create visually appealing and engaging content, including graphics, videos, and written posts, tailored to the interests and needs of the HCCC student community.
  • Manage all library social media accounts, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries, comments, and messages in a timely and professional manner, and maintain a positive and appropriate online presence.
  • Collaborate with library and other HCCC staff to gather information about upcoming events, initiatives, and noteworthy resources to feature on social media platforms.
  • Analyze social media metrics and trends to evaluate the effectiveness of content and campaigns, making data-driven recommendations for optimization.
  • Assist with additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Dean of College Libraries.

Required / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts for an organization, preferably in an educational or library setting.
  • Proficiency in social media management tools such as Hootsuite, Buffer, or Sprout Social.
  • Proficiency in video editing software for social media such as Adobe Premiere Rush, CapCut, InShot, or VivaVideo.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to develop engaging content across various formats.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
