Do you want a meaningful career advocating for children in crisis through your work in writing grants? 4KIDS is looking for aGrant Writerwho will be responsible for developing and writing grant proposals and who will persuasively communicate 4KIDS' mission and programs to potential funders.

Job Description:

• Writes all grants for 4KIDS with review by the Grants Manager and other relevant persons as warranted
• Submits letters of interests, proposals, follow-up reports, and other information to funders and potential funders
• Researches foundations and funders through various methods
• Performs correspondence and acknowledgements for all granting organizations; timely mailing of funder acknowledgements and stewardship pieces
• Assists at events and organization-wide occasions as needed
• Maintains the confidentiality of donors, department and organization at all times
• Develop and implement a plan for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of grant-making Companies/Foundations
• Ensures the development of new strategies to leverage and secure new resources from private, corporate, non-profit and government sources in support of established goals and objectives set forth in the annual grants budget.
• Responsible for securing and managing the renewals of the annual grant revenue budget
• Identify, apply for and coordinate the administration of federal, state, local, foundation and corporate grants in accordance to applicable standards, regulations and guidelines
• Meets grant and proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates, for information-gathering, document preparation, document review and approval
• Assists the Vice President of Programs and other related Program Directors to ensure that grant contracts are executed, per deadlines
• Participates in prospective funder, community partner, and internal grants meetings
• Submits applicable progress reports on status of grants and outcome achievements to designated staff and funders
• Initiates and develops relationships with prospective funders; maintains strong relationships with existing funding sources
• Maintains working knowledge on current fundraising practices in the non-profit/children’s services sector through reading, participating in seminars and other educational opportunities, and professional contacts

• Bachelor's degree in business, communications, public administration, or related field preferred
• Proficiency with databases and Microsoft Office
• Minimum 3-5 years grant writing experience with foundations, government (local, state, and federal) contracts and corporations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Efficient time management skills with a strong ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously, while paying extreme attention to detail and accuracy
• Sound judgement and strong decision making ability
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
