Culminate is an independent creative studio specializing in brand storytelling. Our studio opened in 2005 in Portland, Oregon.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Designer to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Designer, you will play a crucial role in creating immersive and innovative experiences that blend design, spatial awareness and innovation. You will be responsible for leading the conceptualization and execution of spatial design projects, collaborating closely with the Creative Director, cross-functional teams, and mentoring junior designers. The ideal candidate will have a strong design portfolio, exceptional creative and technical abilities, and the ability to drive projects from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have a strong design portfolio, exceptional creative and technical abilities, and the ability to drive projects from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the design development of environmental projects, including retail, exhibition, event spaces and commercial interiors.
- Collaborate with the Creative Director, project managers and clients to ensure alignment of design vision, requirements, and timelines.
- Create and refine 2D and 3D spatial designs, layouts, and visualizations that align with the project’s objectives and user experience goals.
- Present design concepts and solutions to clients and project teams, articulating the design rationale and process.
- Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a collaborative and creative team environment.
- Stay up to date with the latest design trends, materials, technologies, and software tools relevant to spatial design.
- Manage project timelines, ensuring design quality while meeting deadlines and financial constraints.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design challenges throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Art or Design and Architecture OR
- 3-5 years of professional experience in environmental design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating a range of project types and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling programs (such as SketchUp, Rhino, 3D Studio Max), rendering software (such as Enscape, KeyShot), Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
- Strong knowledge of spatial design principles and materiality.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and effectively to clients and teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience working with a multidisciplinary team and managing client relationships.
- A passion for design innovation and a keen eye for detail.
