Technical Writer (009)

OCT Consulting, LLC is an SBA-certified, 8(a) small business management and technology consulting firm that provides support to Federal Government clients. We provide consulting services in the areas of Strategy, Process Improvement, Change Management, Program and Project Management, Acquisition/Procurement, and Information Technology.

Responsibilities and Duties

OCT currently has an opening for a Technical Writer with at least 6 years of experience with federal acquisitions and procurement. A demonstrated background in acquisition practices and familiarity with federal closeout procedures and policies is a must. The individual must also have experience documenting acquisition processes and identifying improvements that reduce the administrative time to process acquisitions, particularly closeouts.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a technical source for agency specific acquisition policies and procedures
  • Review and analyze acquisition process workflows to identify avoidable delays, redundancies, and improvement opportunities
  • Develop and implement clear, concise SOPs for new and improved processes, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
  • Write, edit, and proofread technical documentation, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency
  • Gather data and metrics to measure performance and benchmark against prescribed agency practices
  • Ensure acquisition processes and procedures comply with federal regulations and agency policies
  • Identify, implement, and evaluate process improvements to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Operate under general administrative supervision with the expectation of working independently and presenting findings to executive personnel

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer; excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong understanding of federal acquisition concepts and ability to translate them into concise language
  • Familiarity with the FAR and USAID policies (desired), federal contracting procedures, and procurement processes, particularly closeouts
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to obtain or obtain a Public Trust Clearance; the security process may involve a credit, fingerprint, and law enforcement agency check
  • Work will primarily be performed remotely and/or at OCT’s office in Tyson’s Corner, VA. Individual, however, must be willing to travel to the client’s headquarters in Washington D.C. as needed.

Salary Range: $80,000- $90,000 yearly commensurate with experience, education, etc.
