Job Summary: The Prior Authorization and Intake Specialist is responsible for managing the intake process for new patients and obtaining prior authorizations from insurance companies for prescribed infusion therapies. This role ensures a seamless onboarding experience for patients and facilitates timely initiation of therapy by coordinating between healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies.
Job Responsibilities: Collect necessary medical and insurance information, verify benefits, and ensure all required documentation is complete. Submit and follow up on prior authorization requests to insurance companies, address authorization denials, and resolve discrepancies. Act as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to ensure a smooth authorization process. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient interactions, authorizations, and communications in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Identify opportunities to streamline the intake and authorization processes to enhance efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in prior authorization, patient intake, or medical billing. Understanding of insurance verification and prior authorization processes. Familiarity with medical terminology and home infusion services. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
