The admission coordinator seeks and/or receives inquires and documents information for potential residents to be admitted. Responsibilities Seek and/or receive inquires and documents for potential residents to be admitted Screens and evaluated each referral and determine whether the prospective resident meets criteria for transfer and admission Coordinates all communication received from physician Documentation of all admission and discharge activity Responsible for marketing efforts in the community Qualifications Current knowledge of state and regulatory requirement related to admissions, discharge and transfer is demonstrated Current knowledge and understanding of payment systems, HMO, PPO, Indemnity, Worker’s Compensation, insurance (Medicare and Medicaid, etc) At least one (1) year of experience in the health care field, preferably long-term care Excellent interpersonal skills. Effective written and oral communication skills to communicate with health care professionals, potential residents, family members and the community in general.
