Job Description: Wonderist Agency is seeking a strategic and results-driven SEO Team Lead to drive our organic search strategy, oversee a growing team, and deliver measurable success across hundreds of client accounts. This leadership role is ideal for an experienced SEO professional with an agency background who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Unlike in-house SEO roles that focus on a single brand, this position requires scalability, efficiency, and the ability to execute across a diverse portfolio of hundreds of clients. As SEO Team Lead, you will manage a team of 5+ SEO specialists, optimize workflows, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure our SEO strategies consistently deliver outstanding performance for our clients. You will also oversee key vendor relationships, ensuring seamless integration of external resources into our broader SEO strategy to enhance scalability and efficiency. Additionally, you will play a critical role in cross-functional collaboration and high-priority client engagements, working alongside our web, content, and digital teams to drive results. Essential Functions: What You’ll Do Develop & Execute Global or Company SEO Strategy –

Own and implement scalable SEO strategies that drive consistent, measurable growth across a large portfolio of dental clients and deliver tangible business results. Stay ahead of industry trends, algorithm changes, and best practices to refine and enhance SEO strategies while ensuring alignment with client business goals. Lead a High-Performing Team

– Manage, mentor, and scale a team of 5+ SEO specialists, including both in-house and contractors, ensuring best practices and business alignment. Foster a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous development. Oversee hiring, onboarding, and team structure optimization while maintaining accountability for key SEO KPIs and driving ongoing performance improvements. Drive Operational Excellence

– Oversee SEO operations, optimizing workflows, processes, and reporting. Ensure seamless cross-functional collaboration across SEO, content, web, and other digital teams to drive alignment and execution. Maintain and improve SOPs for SEO execution, keeping leadership dashboards updated. Ensure SEO Execution at Scale

– Maintain high-quality SEO implementations across hundreds of websites, ensuring technical, on-page, and link-building strategies are executed effectively. Conduct audits and refine strategies based on performance data. Develop scalable processes to optimize local SEO strategies for multi-location businesses. Manage Vendor Partnerships

– Oversee external SEO service providers, ensuring performance, alignment with strategy, and seamless execution. Maintain vendor accountability while optimizing collaboration and output quality. Work Directly on Client Accounts

– Lead SEO strategy and execution for select clients, conducting audits, keyword research, and competitive analysis. Provide optimizations, troubleshoot challenges, and deliver actionable insights to improve visibility. Own SEO Performance Metrics

– Track and analyze SEO KPIs, ensuring strategies translate into improved rankings, traffic, and conversions for clients. Build and maintain dashboards that provide real-time visibility into SEO performance across all clients and align SEO goals with company-wide business objectives. Lead Client Escalations & High-Impact Accounts

– Oversee SEO performance for key clients, proactively addressing challenges and ensuring long-term success. Provide strategic consulting for escalated issues, develop recovery strategies for underperforming accounts, and work closely with account managers to enhance retention and client satisfaction. Support Strategic Initiatives

– Execute departmental initiatives in alignment with Wonderist’s business objectives. Compile performance reports and KPIs for Quarterly Business Reviews, and identify innovative approaches to further differentiate Wonderist’s SEO services. Core Competencies: What You’ll Bring SEO Expertise in an Agency Setting

– Must have experience managing and scaling SEO for a large portfolio of clients. Deep understanding of SEO best practices, including on-page optimization, technical SEO, schema markup, and ranking factors. Analytical Skills

– Skilled at interpreting data from tools like Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEM Rush, Ahrefs, site audit tools, Agency Analytics, and other third-party SEO platforms to drive performance improvements and strategic decision-making. Content & Local SEO Strategy : Ability to develop content strategies that align with SEO goals and execute strong local SEO tactics, including Google Business Profile optimization, citation management, and location-based keyword strategies. Leadership & Team Development

– Experience mentoring, developing, and managing an SEO team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning. Strategic Thinking & Problem-Solving

– Ability to translate business objectives into actionable SEO strategies, troubleshoot complex SEO challenges, and drive long-term success. Cross-Functional Collaboration

– Comfortable working alongside web, content, and other teams to align SEO strategies with broader marketing initiatives. Client-Facing Communication

– Strong ability to communicate SEO insights and recommendations clearly to clients, executives, and internal teams. Project & Process Management

Minimum Qualifications: 7+ years of experience in SEO, preferably in an agency setting managing SEO for multiple clients. Advanced proficiency with SEO tools, including Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, Screaming Frog, and BrightLocal. Strong technical SEO knowledge, including schema markup, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and mobile-first indexing. Experience working with developers on technical optimizations. Expertise in local SEO strategies, including Google Business Profile optimization, citation management, and multi-location SEO tactics. Experience leading teams in an SEO or digital marketing capacity. Proficiency with CMS platforms (Webflow, WordPress, etc.). Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Client-facing experience, with the ability to handle escalations and present SEO strategies effectively. Familiarity with project management tools such as Monday.com for tracking workflows and team priorities.
