Office of Early Childhood

(OEC). Designed for children ages 3 and 4, this program offers a diverse portfolio of options, including Boston Public Schools, community-based organizations, independent schools, and family childcare providers. The BPS Department of Early Childhood administers the

program’s continued city expansion

which focuses on making sure that all pre-k seats created are of high quality. In 2024, UPK was rebranded as Boston Pre-K, bringing a fresh identity to early childhood education in the city. UPK Marketing Manager Position Overview The Boston Pre-K Marketing Coordinator (MC) will be responsible for the ongoing implementation of the Boston Pre-K rebrand. The MC will update communications with partners, potential funders, invested stakeholders, and the public (including website and social media management). In addition, the MC will work with Boston Public Schools and the Mayor's office in a citywide effort to market Boston Universal Pre-K and the BPS Early Childhood curriculum. The UPK Marketing Coordinator (MC) position is a part of the BPS Department of Early Childhood (DEC) and is supervised by the Executive Director of Early Childhood. RESPONSIBILITIES: Collect the information and design the Year in Review that is published every year. Maintain and update the content on the Department of Early Childhood, Boston Pre-K, and Countdown to Kindergarten website. Work on the redesign of the Focus Curriculum Website, giving continuity to the project that was started in 2024. Design and maintain all communication materials such as flyers, family handbooks, timelines, and any other family-facing materials for both Boston Pre-K and Countdown To Kindergarten. Help write and edit copy for two newsletters: one for program staff of the Boston PreK-funded community providers in Boston, and one for parents and caregivers of Boston Pre-K students. Write and edit copy for letters and memos, email communication, websites, slide presentations, survey forms, grant materials, event materials, and enrollment marketing and advertising materials. Assist with designing, selecting, and ordering promotional materials including selecting items, drafting copy, and reviewing proofs. Give continuity to the Boston Pre-K Rebrand strategy initiated in 2024, including collaborating with other Departments to get the news out, working on internal alignment, and effectively promoting the brand with Boston families and partners. Assist in identifying opportunities for promoting Boston Pre-K registration in Boston including further developing strategic outreach initiatives. Assist in creating marketing and promotional materials for Countdown to Kindergarten when needed. Provide support for the Boston Pre-K Community Meeting and Advisory meeting such as creating slides, gathering content from the Department, generating Zoom links, sending out invitations, and any other task that might arise. Perform other general administrative tasks as time allows and need arises. QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED: Must be authorized to work in the United States. Experience or coursework completed in communications, media, journalism, marketing, or design. Knowledge of principles of visual design. Knowledge of Adobe InDesign (preferred) or Canva. Experience with event promotion and program marketing. Knowledge of basic page layout best practices. Ability to speak, read, and write in English proficiently. Comfort communicating via written email, instant message (i.e. Google Chat), phone, and on video conference (i.e. Zoom). Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to engage with others with a patient and respectful demeanor. Openness and comfort working in a dynamic team environment using collaboration tools (i.e. Google Suite) and virtual meeting platforms (i.e. Zoom, Google Meet). Proficiency in Google Suite - including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Sheets (or with parallel programs such as the Microsoft Office suite and other file-sharing platforms with a willingness to learn Google Suite). Self-directed and comfortable working independently. Systems thinker who can connect daily tasks to larger systemic priorities and future improvements. QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED: Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Experience designing websites. Ability to communicate in multiple languages orally and/or in written form is an asset. Knowledge of Boston neighborhoods and its demographic and/or educational landscape. Experience with at least one email marketing software (i.e. Constant Contact, Upaknee, Mailchimp, Emma, etc.). Knowledge of PDF document accessibility and ADA requirements. Knowledge of culturally and linguistically sustaining practices. Terms:
