Brief Description:
The Live Event Video Specialist position works with all aspects of video-related services for live event production, ensuring high-quality real-time video production as well as high-quality capture for editing and distribution post-event.
An overview of specialties required includes storyboarding/creative/ideation, live event audio and video capture, technical direction/camera switching, projection, projection mapping, show power, field audio/video capture and commercial and non-profit audio/video capture.
This position works closely with Information Technology-related functions throughout our company and may be subject to confidentiality clauses pertaining to client information, as well as the handling and management of Human Resources-related documentation.
This position often requires travel outside of Fargo, North Dakota. As this position is deeply involved in the production of live events, which are often dictated by the schedules of clients, venues, and elements outside of our control, this position often requires late nights, early mornings and work on the weekends. In turn, we do all we can to offer very flexible scheduling.
Duties include:
- Be a contributing member of your team! Maintain a positive, can-do attitude, and encourage and help teammates to be their most successful at every turn.
- Work with Clients, Project Managers and Technical Directors to understand their vision and needs, as well as to work out any potential problems related to venue, show flow, or logistics.
- Set Livewire apart by bringing new ideas and technologies to the conversation on a regular basis.
- Develop a professional, but sincere and personal rapport with Livewire clients.
- Attend client meetings as appropriate.
- Determine design and placement of video components for the event/show considering script, location, and talent/presenter needs.
- Source and locate additional equipment for rental or purchase as needed/directed using our extensive list of vendor partners, and any contacts you might bring to the table.
- Work with Operations Team to communicate budgetary / logistics / sourcing needs.
- Work with and direct crew to rig/place video equipment as needed on-site at event.
- Collaborate with other departments on the job site by assisting with their projects if you are at a stand-still.
- Write cue sheets describing cues and cue numbers, cross-referenced to page numbers in script/show flow documents.
- At times, program equipment cue-to-cue for operation by other Livewire staff as needed.
- Other duties as assigned. (Keep your office space clean, etc.)
General Requirements (please include appropriate examples in your application materials):
- Proven experience setting up modern and classic video equipment for use in a live event environment.
- Trustworthy, self-motivated, self-starting, individual.
- Evidence of ability to think critically and quickly on the job site.
- Ability to economically and effectively implement the use of video components, in coordination with other media, to create engaging, energizing environments for corporate, concert and theatrical events of all sizes with clear, consistent video coverage across platforms (projection, recording, stream, etc.)
- Proven experience with industry standards in rigging/trussing applications and event power applications.
- Proven knowledge of classic and modern video equipment, analog and digital, as well as best practices of utilizing projection on-event.
- Strong computer and Internet skills are a requirement for this position.
- Multi-tasking and ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Current driver's license or ability to get to/from office easily.
- Able to see projects through from concept to completion.
- Able to climb a ladder, use scissor/articulating lifts, and do some heavy lifting (equipment related).
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, balancing input and making the best decision(s) for all involved.
Desired Software/Hardware Knowledge (please include appropriate examples in your application materials):
- Required: NewTek TriCaster Platform (Advanced Edition preferred)
- Knowledge of NDI and SDI routing protocols
- Livestream, Vimeo, and other industry-standard streaming platforms
- Office 365 Suite
- Google Workspace
- Windows 10/11 Pro/Home
- Mac OS
- Appropriate network protocols for office and event use
- LED Video Wall principles
- Heavy rigging, heavy power standards and procedures
- Experience with variety of HD/4K+ cameras and associated accessories and audio equipment for event/shoot use
Helpful, but not required:
- College or University degree completed
- Comfortability driving large vehicles such as cargo vans and 26’ box trucks helpful.
- (80) Hours, ARTS time: All team members are encouraged to participate in and support non-profit/educational theatre, dance, music or arts initiatives in the communities we serve. ARTS time can be utilized anytime throughout a 365-day period upon approval.

- Company vehicles are usually provided, in which case all fuel is paid. If for some reason this is not an option, mileage is paid at the current federal rate when using a personal vehicle.
