SUNY Delhi invites dynamic, forward-thinking, and engaging applicants for a tenure-track English and Communication Faculty member to join our School of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Teaching duties consist of a 4/4 teaching load, including two sections of composition and/or public speaking each semester. Other teaching duties will include communication courses, with additional opportunities to offer humanities, literature, and/or courses in the college's growing Applied Communication BS program as needed. While the majority of English and Communication courses are offered to fulfill General Education Requirements to students from a wide range of programs and backgrounds, the college is interested in developing new courses and degree offerings in areas like professional writing and communication.

In addition to teaching, candidates will engage in scholarship and actively participate in student advisement, curriculum development, and departmental and college committee work.

Areas of responsibilities include:

  • Participate in annual systematic assessment of course, program, and institutional learning outcomes
  • Participate in revising courses and programs where necessary
  • Post and keep regular office hours for the convenience of students
  • Offer face-to-face courses on the SUNY Delhi campus
  • Provide academic advisement to students
  • Serve on departmental and campus committees
  • Participate in faculty meetings
  • Participate in program reviews and reports

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Rhetoric & Composition, Communication, or a related field.
  • ABDs anticipating an earned degree by December 31, 2025 will be considered
  • Experience working with a diverse student population

  • This is a 10-month academic year, tenure track position
