About the Position

The Senior Filmmaker/Photographer plays a key part in executing high-quality visual content for various marketing channels, including national broadcast, social media, web projects, and more. The individual is responsible for the technical execution and some creative development of video and photography shoots, collaborating closely with producers, directors, and other team members. The Senior Filmmaker/Photographer manages and maintains studio resources, provides support to junior team members, and stays ahead of industry trends to drive innovation in production. The individual researches and adopts industry trends and new technologies to drive efficiency and innovation in preproduction and production processes.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

What You’ll Do:

  1. Capture high-quality video, audio and still images across a range of styles and platforms, including commercial filmmaking, portrait and lifestyle photography, social media, branded content, and curriculum videos.
  2. Utilize advanced camera and audio equipment, cinematography techniques, and creative lighting to achieve the desired visual storytelling.
  3. Collaborate with producers, writers, directors, and other creative team members to develop and execute the visual strategy for each project. Provide constructive feedback and support to team members to advance the technical and creative quality of the work and foster a collaborative environment where creative ideas and solutions are encouraged.
  4. Support and assist with other on-set roles including DIT, VTR, Grip and Electric, etc. as needed.
  5. Maintain and troubleshoot production equipment and software/firmware, including cameras, lighting, sound, VTR and remote video village gear, ensuring everything is in optimal working condition before, during, and after shoots.
  6. Oversee studio resources such as grid and studio lighting, audio booth, and DIT stations, ensuring proper utilization, maintenance, and organization.
  7. Manage the inventory of equipment, including acquisition and rentals, ensure all necessary tools are available for each shoot, and develop and maintain policies and procedures for equipment usage, studio operations, and production workflows.
  8. Research and adopt novel technologies and tools to improve production processes.
  9. Stay current with photography and filmmaking trends, experimenting with new tools, techniques, and visual styles to meet the creative expectations of briefs and provide innovative and creative footage.
  10. Adapt quickly to unexpected challenges on set, such as technical issues or changes to the production plan, while maintaining high-quality results.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Five (5) years of experience in filmmaking, photography, or related fields, with a strong portfolio of both commercial filmmaking and photographic work.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency with a variety of specialized equipment, including but not limited to Sony, Arri, and RED cameras, gimbals (e.g., Movi, Ronin), and a range of lighting tools (e.g., Aputure, Lightpanels, Jokers, Gemini, Titan, etc.)
  • Familiarity with VTR, remote video village, teleprompter, and DIT equipment and software (e.g., ShotPut Pro)
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and project management skills with a focus on team support and creative problem-solving
  • Experience with drone photography/videography and post-production software
  • Background in advertising, commercial, and/or brand content creation
  • Knowledge of sound recording techniques, audio equipment and audio recording tools (e.g., Adobe Audition, ProTools)

Pay Range

The annual pay range for this position is $63,200 (minimum), $95,500 (midpoint), and $127,800 (maximum).*

*Typical hiring range is between the minimum and midpoint of the above pay range. Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, location and budget.
