Description

The Database Administrator (DBA) / Report Writer will be responsible for managing, securing, optimizing, and maintaining the organization's database systems. This role will also include designing and developing strategic, actionable business reports in close collaboration with our data analyst team. The ideal candidate will have experience managing SQL Server databases in Azure cloud environments, providing database administrative support across the infrastructure, and creating complex analytical reports using PowerBI and multiple data sources, including SQL Server.

Requirements

Database Management and Maintenance:

Configure, manage, optimize, and secure Microsoft SQL Server environments. Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, data replication, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and proactive monitoring. Maintain database integrity and stability, conduct disaster recovery planning, and regularly assess system performance to ensure system reliability and efficiency. 2. Report Development:

Collaborate closely with the data analyst team to understand business requirements and translate them into clear, actionable PowerBI dashboards and reports. Design, develop, test, and maintain reports pulling from SQL Server databases and other data sources, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and optimal performance. Work with stakeholders to continuously improve and iterate reports and dashboards based on user feedback. 3. Azure Cloud Expertise:

Deploy, manage, and optimize database infrastructure within Azure cloud environments. Leverage Azure resources to enhance database scalability, reliability, and performance. Implement cloud-based data solutions, including migration, storage management, and analytics optimization 4. Administrative and Security Responsibilities:

Enforce strict security standards and best practices across all databases and related application frameworks. Manage user permissions, conduct regular audits, and address security vulnerabilities proactively. Continuously evaluate current systems and seek improvements in database policies, procedures, and performance. Required Qualifications and Skills:

Minimum of 4 years of experience in managing Microsoft SQL Server databases. Strong experience in producing analytically rich PowerBI dashboards and reports using SQL-based data pipelines. Proficiency in SQL Server database administration, including query performance tuning, indexing, disaster recovery planning, and security management. Advanced expertise in SQL scripting, query optimization, and stored procedure development. Familiarity with enterprise architecture, database infrastructure management, and data governance best practices. Proven experience in database optimization for cloud environments and administration of database infrastructures within Azure. Other Skills:

Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with data analysts and cross-functional teams. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proactive and continuous learner, adaptable to emerging technologies and trends. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Position Demands:

This position requires sitting, bending, and stooping for up to 8 hours per day in an office setting. Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Ability to learn technical material. The person in this position occasionally needs to move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc. Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, printer, etc. The person in this position frequently communicates with guests, team members, and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information.
