Who You Are:

PSI is seeking to hire a Proposal Technical Writer to assist in our pursuit of transportation and civil engineering government contracts. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience writing, editing, and researching proposals and other technical content. The Proposal Writer will be a strong writer with a passion for effective, persuasive communication and critical thinking.

Responsibilities:
  • Actively leads or participates in the development of technical approach win strategy element
  • Demonstrates leadership in persuasive writing, establishing style guidelines, and proposal development best practices
  • Conducts evidence-based research and interviews with subject-matter experts (SMEs); identifies and prioritizes relevant information to inform the development of a technical approach
  • Leads a cohort of contributing writers and SMEs to prepare a winning proposal response
  • Writes all or portions of the Technical Approach as assigned.
  • Copyedits and proofreads content to ensure accuracy and grammatical correctness
  • Supports quality control of content and products throughout the development process
  • Supports the development and production of a variety of PSI publications and marketing collateral, including reports, journals, articles, brochures, flyers, and promotional items
  • Collaborates with the PSI Business Development Team to research and pursue new opportunities

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field
  • 3+ years of proposal or technical writing experience for state/federal
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills; adaptable; capable of performing individual and collaborative work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly comprehend and communicate on diverse subject matters in transport engineering, data analytics, and software development
  • Previous training in proposal development

Preferred Qualifications:
  • An advanced degree in Communications, English, or a related field or a Bachelor's/advanced degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Certification from Shipley and/or APMP
