Technical Writer
This position requires an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance.
We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support a Department of Defense (DoD) Air Force (AF) contract. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT policy, strategy, and governance, combined with hands-on experience in Air Force or DoD enterprise infrastructure, governance, policies, and procedures. This role requires a candidate with expertise in writing technical documents, IT policies, and strategies, specifically within the DoD and Air Force environments. Experience or knowledge of cybersecurity practices, NIST policies, and Zero Trust frameworks will be an asset in helping to develop documents that align with current security standards.

Technical Writer Responsibilities Include:
- Write and maintain IT policies, strategies, and governance documentation for the Air Force and DoD, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, standards, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Develop clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation, including policies, procedures, strategic plans, and security protocols, with a focus on ensuring that documents are aligned with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST and Zero Trust.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and other DoD or Air Force stakeholders to ensure alignment of IT practices, strategies, and security measures.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to the DoD's IT security policies, including NIST cybersecurity practices, and complies with security and governance frameworks such as Zero Trust principles.
- Provide technical writing support for enterprise infrastructure projects, ensuring documentation accurately reflects system architecture, policies, security protocols, and procedures.
- Conduct thorough reviews of existing documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity, and up-to-date information, with a special focus on cybersecurity practices.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of IT governance frameworks, ensuring that cybersecurity policies, procedures, and security documentation are well-documented and accessible.
- Support the documentation of enterprise IT infrastructure, security protocols, and governance procedures with an emphasis on NIST and Zero Trust standards.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Technical Writer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of IT experience, including:
- Writing IT policies, strategies, and governance documentation for DoD, Air Force, or similar entities.
- Familiarity with Air Force or DoD enterprise infrastructure, governance, policies, procedures, and cybersecurity practices.
- Experience in documenting complex IT systems, security frameworks (e.g., NIST), and governance practices in a clear, understandable manner.
- Knowledge or experience with NIST cybersecurity frameworks, including NIST Zero Trust principles, is preferred.
- Proven experience in technical writing, with the ability to translate complex IT concepts and cybersecurity practices into clear, actionable documents.
- Strong understanding of DoD and Air Force IT policies, governance frameworks, security practices, and cybersecurity standards such as NIST and Zero Trust.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with senior leadership and technical teams to produce high-quality documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy and clarity in all documentation, particularly in the context of cybersecurity.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, stakeholders, and leadership to gather information and produce comprehensive documentation.
