Description
The Summer Library Intern assists patrons on the Little Red Reading Bus and supports staff with events for youth and families. This is an excellent learning opportunity for any student, age 14 years or older, to gain experience in the workforce, customer service, and to enjoy a fun working environment. Below is an overview of some of the duties this individual may perform.
Examples Of Duties
- Assists in the administration of the summer Little Red Reading Bus route including helping people find materials, conducting basic programming (ex: read alouds and engaging with the literacy or movement based play stations), and welcoming youth and families to the route.
- Supports staff in organizing and administering recreational and educational library events for youth or families. Prepares materials for events. Helps with set-up and clean-up for programs.
- Provides direct customer service to patrons including: helping people find materials on the Little Red Reading Bus route stops, library card sign-up and checking materials in and out.
- Provides exceptional service when interacting with patrons and promotes library services to the public. Actively represents the library and participates in offsite programs.
- Works collaboratively with volunteers on the Little Red Reading Bus route and with other projects as needed.
- Works safely, follows safe work practices, and identifies and reports unsafe work conditions.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
- Able to work 12 hours a week for the 12 weeks of the Summer Boost program and able to attend pre-summer training.
- Must be 14 years or older to work in North Dakota.

- Additional training will be given throughout the summer.
- Interns will need to attend a 3-hour training session before summer - Saturday, May 17th from 12-3pm
- Summer Schedule June 2-August 15:
- Schedule A: Mondays 10:30am-1:30pm, Tuesdays 4:30-7:30pm, Wednesdays 10:30am-1:30pm and Thursdays 10:30am-1:30pm
- Schedule B: Mondays 4:15-715pm, Tuesdays 12:30-3:30pm, Wednesday 4:15-7:15pm and Thursday 12:30-3:30pm
