JOB SUMMARY
Designer/Drafter
JOB DESCRIPTION
Creates, updates and revises sketches, working drawings and contract documents using Computer Assisted Design (CAD) software or manual means of drafting to meet customer requirements. Prepares 2D and 3D models. Must be able to read and comprehend detailed customer requirements, data sheets and supplier specifications. Assignments will be completed utilizing information provided by project engineering, architectural, or technical services staff under the direction of a supervisor. Requires familiarity with drafting techniques and engineering concepts and terminology. Able to read engineering drawing and blueprints. Prepares documentation to support design drawings. Prepare bills of material, schedules, and assist engineering personnel with formal drawing transmittals and construction issues.
1. What are the top 3-5 skills and qualifications (technology/application/software, etc.) required? CAD Experience: 2-3 years of experience working with engineering-type drawings. Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation software. Drawing Interpretation: Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings. Experience in an industrial or owner plant setting (e.g., power plants, manufacturing) is preferred over office/design/commercial settings. Mechanical/Electrical Background: A background in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred. Relevant experience in similar industries, such as power plants or industrial settings, is highly valued. Valid Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license for occasional travel to other sites. Education and Experience: While a degree is not required, commensurate experience (5-6 years) in the absence of a degree is acceptable. These qualifications ensure that the candidate is well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of organizing and digitizing drawing documentation, collaborating with various teams, and making necessary updates and markups.
