Job Summary

The copy editor copy edits content created by and contributed to the IAPP Editorial team: articles, short news items and research reports, as well as additional content. The copy editor proofreads and edits a variety of articles for publication using AP Style.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Copy edit and proofread a wide variety of content offerings, including short news items, reported articles, research reports and various other content pieces for accuracy in grammar and content.
  • Check for and correct punctuation, spelling, grammar, usage and copy style in accordance with AP Style for consistency.
  • Ensure correct tone, voice and flow and structure of content.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.

  • Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university; English or Journalism degrees preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional proofreading or copy editing experience necessary.
  • Deep understanding of AP Style.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proficiency with the WordPress platform preferred.
Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend articles and written communication and correct for AP Style.
