As the Director of Sales, you will be accountable for the development and execution of the company’s overall sales and marketing strategy to achieve assigned revenue and profit objectives. Directly responsible for the entire field sales organization including regional sales managers and independent representative partners, development and execution of effective sales strategies, inventory forecasting/oversight, and product development.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Sales Leadership: Build, lead, and motivate a sales team to execute sales plans and achieve revenue targets across all product categories.
- Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement sales programs, pricing strategies, and distribution channels to maximize growth and profitability.
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory planning to ensure product availability aligns with sales demand while minimizing excess stock and shortages. Work with the National Accounts team on the allocation of inventory for both teams to achieve their goals.
- Budget Oversight: Manage sales budgets, ensuring cost-effective execution of promotions and sales initiatives.
- Market Analysis & Forecasting: Conduct in-depth and accurate market research to anticipate trends and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Strategic Business Planning: Provide visionary leadership to develop long-term business, market, sales, and product strategies.
- Competitive Intelligence: Monitor industry trends and competitor activities, providing insights and recommendations to maintain a competitive edge.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with Sales Planning, Product Planning, Training, and Marketing teams to align sales initiatives with overall brand strategies.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data analysis to identify trends, optimize performance, and uncover opportunities for strategic growth.
- Talent Development: Mentor and develop staff to achieve assigned personal objectives, adhere to company policy, and unselfishly contribute to the overall success of the group.
- Sales Channel Expansion: Identify and establish new sales channels to drive consumer sales growth.
- Meeting & Training Coordination: Plan and coordinate sales meetings and training sessions as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in sales leadership, demand forecasting, and inventory management to optimize product availability and sales achievement.
- Strong knowledge of sales strategies, competitive positioning, and retail sales techniques.
- Deep understanding of assigned product categories and national business dynamics.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead complex discussions and represent the company effectively.
- Experience setting and achieving sales targets across regions, accounts, and product groups.
- Highly organized with strong time and budget management skills, capable of meeting tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with database systems for research and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Sales, or Marketing, or equivalent experience (minimum of 6 years in a national sales role and 4 years in sales/marketing within the electronics industry as a manufacturer, representative, or dealer).

Working Relationships
Interacts with Company departments such as Administration, Finance, Traffic/Inventory Control, Production, and Information Systems to develop, coordinate, and administer programs and resolve problems.
Problem Solving and Decision Making
Determines the form and level at which the Company participates in dealer and distributor business programs. Approves new dealer additions and distribution guidelines. Recommends promotions and sales activities to maximize both sales and profit. Recommends product enhancements and new product offerings to Senior management both at KENWOOD USA and JVCKENWOOD Japan.
Working Conditions
- Works in a general office environment and in remote locations such as hotel rooms, airports, and non-Kenwood offices.
- Requires substantial travel, including International when necessary.
- Duties and responsibilities performed normally do not include special physical requirements. Some exposure to computer monitor. The employee answers telephone calls and occasionally needs, reaches, and pushes, and pulls file drawers to file records and reports. Finger dexterity if required to operate computer keyboard and calculator. Must be able to reach above the shoulder to lift, carry, push, and pull sales promotion and travel material up to 50 pounds in conjunction with travel to dealers, trade shows, and customer locations.
