Job Title: Social Media Specialist
Location: Research Triangle Park, NC
Duration: 8 months
Pay Rate: $32/hr to $40/hr
Note: Monday through Friday 4-5 hours per day. Total expected hours per week: 25.
Job Description:
We are looking for an innovative and creative social media and web specialist to develop social media and web content objectives, ensuring alignment with the Corporate Communications strategy. This person will write, review, edit, design, coordinate, and post social media and website content for the company and deliver measurable results. The specialist will work collaboratively with staff from across the organization to help achieve goals. This person will help maintain aligned messaging and shape understanding of the company, its purpose, and its progress toward achieving its mission of leading innovative science and driving clinical outcomes to transform people's lives.
Responsibilities
- Works directly with the Vice President, Corporate Communications, and other senior staff to develop social media and website content.
- Research, write, edit, proof, and post social media posts and website content.
- Develop and maintain a monthly editorial calendar that highlights milestones, awareness days, and other topics for external audiences.
- Regularly update and maintain social media channels and corporate website.
- Support social media and website content review processes among key stakeholders.
- Stay updated on new online technologies, best practices, and industry trends to identify innovative strategies and solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency of messaging and visuals.
- Align social media and website content with key business external campaigns and priorities.
- Manage vendors, projects, and planning globally, requiring significant coordination and collaboration.
- Partner with Human Resources and other groups on priority topics related to employee culture and engagement objectives.
- Build and implement social media programs that encourage audience engagement.
- Monitor social media groups, trends, tools, and applications and recommend actions.
- Monitor and report on the company's social media and website performance.
- Respond to social media inquiries in a timely and courteous manner.
- Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications
- Professional experience managing social media channels across all major platforms.
- Professional web content development experience, including ability to work in WordPress.
- BA/BS in communications, business, science, or related field (required).
- 2+ years of experience working in social media roles.
- Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry experience (preferred).
- The ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
