Education: High School Diploma or GED

Months/Years of Experience: Two (2) years experience revising or writing material that is mostly standardized for Test Plans, Test Reports, Risk Hazard Assessment, and Safety Procedures.

Required Qualifications: U.S. Citizen. Must have or be able to obtain a security clearance.

Desired Qualifications: Familiar with test and evaluation related documentation and staffing approval requirements. Self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.

Skills Needed: Word processing, document management, MS Office intermediate skills in Word, Project, PowerPoint and Excel, and a technical writing background.

Duties: This writer organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Responsibilities may include maintaining records and files of work and revisions, selecting photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material, assisting in laying out material for publication, and arranging for typing, duplication, and distribution of material. Receives assignments and technical information from a supervisor or senior writer, may be provided notes or manuals containing operating procedures and details, and may observe production, developmental or experimental activities to expand or verify the operating procedures provided and details.

This worker accesses manufacturers' catalogs, drawings and other data related to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment. Responsibilities may include accessing blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
