The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

NBC News Channel is a division of the NBC News Group, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The assignment desk editor will find, follow, and cover the news of the day, and gather stories and elements for dissemination to NBC News group and News Channel partners and clients, including foreign clients. This position is overnight hours and could include backfilling other assignment desk shifts.

Responsibilities

  1. Work with all NBC entities and News Channel clients to gather the day’s news
  2. Fulfil requests for all NBC Network platforms
  3. Use all available editorial, social media, and desktop tools to gather, view, and share stories
  4. Respond quickly to breaking news
  5. Work closely with feed producer regarding story details and restrictions
  6. Communicate story developments with network, NBC News Channel clients and internally within NBC News Channel
  7. Represent NBC News Channel on network conference calls
  8. Book transmission facilities, live and tape feeds
  9. Utilize various file sharing platforms to gather video
  10. Find compelling user generated stories
  11. Clear, with the proper language, any user generated content for the feed
  12. Follow and communicate Rights and Clearances restrictions

Qualifications

  1. 2+ years of affiliate and or network experience
  2. Bachelor’s degree - preferably in journalism or communications
  3. Must be able to work weekends, nights, and holidays
  4. Ability to work flexible hours during major breaking news
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  6. Strong editorial judgment and customer service skills

  3. Strong work ethic and organizational skills
  4. Assignment Desk experience preferred

  1. Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
