Integra
We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented BIM Designer - Mechanical - to join our team. This role will involve creating, managing, and coordinating 3D BIM models for mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. The BIM Designer will work closely with mechanical engineers, architects, and other design professionals to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems into the overall building model. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in BIM software, strong mechanical design knowledge, and excellent problem-solving skills.
Primary Responsibilities: • Create and manage accurate 3D BIM models for mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.) using Inventor/SolidWorks and other relevant BIM software. • Collaborate with engineers and design teams to integrate mechanical systems into the overall building design, ensuring coordination with other disciplines (electrical, structural, architectural). • Use BIM software to perform clash detection and resolve conflicts between mechanical systems and other building systems to avoid costly on-site issues. • Prepare and update mechanical drawings, system layouts, and specifications from the BIM models. Ensure all designs meet local codes, regulations, and industry standards. • Conduct regular quality checks on the BIM models to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with company and project standards. • Develop and maintain DWG templates, part family libraries, and design standards to streamline project execution and improve consistency. • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and contractors to provide technical support, resolve design issues, and ensure proper system implementation. • Assist in the preparation of design submittals, presentations, and reports. Help prepare mechanical system specifications and technical documentation for clients and contractors. • Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in BIM and mechanical systems design. Contribute to the ongoing improvement of design processes and workflows.
Professional Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field preferred. • Alternatively, a technical diploma or equivalent experience in mechanical systems design with specialized BIM training. • At least 3 years of experience in mechanical systems design, with a focus on BIM modeling and coordination. • Proficiency in Inventor/SolidWorks, and other BIM-related software is required. • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and energy-efficient design principles. • Proficiency in 3D BIM modeling and coordination. • Experience with clash detection and resolution within the BIM environment. • Familiarity with building codes, standards, and regulations related to mechanical systems. • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines. • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset. • BIM certification is preferred. • LEED or other sustainability certifications are a plus.
