The Director of Marketing & Experiences is a key position within University Circle Inc.’s Marketing and Experiences team, responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies, overseeing private event rentals and public community events, and ensuring seamless integration of marketing and event experiences. This role requires a strategic thinker who is also capable of executing day-to-day projects, collaborating across teams, and ensuring all marketing campaigns and experiences align with UCI’s mission and branding goals.


Key Responsibilities

Brand Marketing & Rebrand Strategy

  • Assist in the upcoming UCI rebrand project, contributing to the development of new branding guidelines, positioning, and messaging.
  • Implement the brand strategy across all marketing campaigns, ensuring consistency and alignment with the current and upcoming rebrand.
  • Design and write content for various platforms, including website, newsletters, press releases, social media, and event promotions, to maintain brand coherence.


Event Marketing & Support

  • Assist in managing UCI’s private event rentals, supporting clients from initial inquiry to event execution.
  • Coordinate with the University Circle Police Department for events requiring security and ensure all public safety requirements are met.
  • Work alongside the Experiences Manager to ensure the seamless execution of UCI-led events (e.g., WOW, YAY!, Parade the Circle), helping with logistics, vendor coordination, and event-day support.
  • Collaborate with the Experiences Manager to maintain the event calendar, ensuring strategic alignment between marketing efforts and event goals.


Social Media Strategy

  • Develop and implement a strategic social media calendar, ensuring content aligns with UCI’s goals, audience engagement strategies, and rebranding efforts.
  • Manage social media campaigns across various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, to promote events, initiatives, and UCI’s overall brand.
  • Monitor engagement and adjust social media strategies as needed to optimize reach and community interaction.


Content Creation & Digital Marketing

  • Write, design, and distribute engaging content for UCI’s e-newsletters, adhering to best practices for email marketing, segmentation, and open rates.
  • Oversee the Google Ads program, developing and managing digital advertising campaigns to promote UCI events and initiatives, monitor performance, and adjust strategies for optimal ROI.
  • Create and edit short-form videos for social media, website content, and event promotions, maintaining high production values and ensuring messaging aligns with UCI’s brand.


Public Relations & Media Engagement

  • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and media kits to promote UCI.
  • Provide media support during events and initiatives, serving as a point of contact for media inquiries.


Analytics & Reporting

  • Run regular analytics reports on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, including social media engagement, Google Ads performance, email open rates, and event attendance.
  • Use data insights to inform future marketing strategies and report on ROI to the CMXO.

Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in marketing, event management, or a related field, with progressive responsibility.
  • Proven experience in brand marketing, social media management, and event promotion.
  • Expertise in Google Ads, email marketing platforms (e.g., HubSpot), and social media tools.
  • Proficiency with design software such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and video editing tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to write compelling content for various platforms.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with community engagement, event marketing, and public relations is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally for event setup and takedown.
