DCI is hiring a full-time School Librarian & Media Specialist.
This position is primarily responsible for the functions of the school library: evaluation and selection; ordering and processing; utilization of media; and student related library programming. The secondary responsibility of this role is overseeing the educational technology programs: contracting, auditing, facilitating professional development for teachers on Edtech platforms, and staying informed about current and new ed tech platforms and their potential impact on DCI’s instructional vision. (Depending on need and desire, this position may also teach up to two blocks a day.) Salary Range:
$63,113 - $103,515. (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience) Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree is required. A Master's Degree in Library Science degree preferred. Previous experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of middle grades and young adult texts, including genre, level, and student interest. Ability to use multiple technology platforms to guide instruction and communicate with students and families and proficiency with communicating using G-Suite tools, including Gmail, is preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills. Clear a background check. Key Qualities & Skills: Promote culturally relevant literacy for all students and staff throughout the building, ensure accessibility of a wide range of diverse texts and library resources, including texts and resources in the targeted languages, and organize and facilitate library programming that is inclusive of diverse authors and stories. Have a genuine love for books and the desire to share that love with students. Stay up to date on current trends and innovations in media and Edtech, including advances in AI. Expertise and experience with an array of search tools that include: blogs, wikis, social media, images, AI, written media and scholarly content. Expertise and experience with an array of Edtech platforms for teacher and student use; help maintain Edtech contracts in line with the projected Edtech budget. Create and maintain a website or portal to compile resources to meet the specific needs of the learning community. Ensure learners and teachers can (physically & intellectually) access developmental and curricular databases, portals, websites, blogs, videos, and other media. Help learners put together their own personal information portals and support their research and learning, using widgets, embedded media, and personal information portals like iGoogle, PageFlakes, NetVibes, wikis and Google Sites. Teach or cover up to two blocks a day, as decided by leadership. Interest and desire to engage in the IB MYP and language immersion programs. Collaborate with general and special educators, coordinators, and leaders. High degree of communication through a variety of mediums with parents and students. Embrace French, Spanish, and Chinese cultures by leading and participating in cultural activities for faculty and students. Ensure that our 1:1 Chromebooks program is implemented effectively for students by infusing technology into instruction. Other duties as assigned. Faculty and Staff Development/Benefits:
