We are seeking an Entertainment Technical Audio Trainer to supervise all aspects of audio reinforcement throughout five studios, discipline specific technical rehearsals; provide safe operation of the audio system and inner ear monitoring systems; teach advanced and specialized live performance audio methodology and associated labs while adhering to the specific and comprehensive audio discipline curriculum, under limited supervision.
Brainstorms training and lab objectives in coordination with management. Creates, writes, and reviews training programs including tiered course curriculums, handouts, examinations, and designs bespoke laboratory style practical exercises. Provides hands-on training and lectures on live sound theory, installations, preventative maintenance, inner ear monitor mix/levels safety, etc. In addition, the Entertainment Technical Audio Trainer administers written and practical examinations and authors performance reports to evaluate and document the trainee’s progress and performance during their tour at Carnival Studios.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Delivers group and individual instruction and instructor led hands-on trainings/labs covering a range of policy/procedure, technical and operational curriculum in the specific field/discipline.
- Evaluate effectiveness of training and recommends any refining of training curriculum while researching and recommending development of training aids including training handbooks, demonstration models and multimedia visual aids.
- Maintain administrative training records for each trainee for the purpose of development tracking.
- Perform inventory, upkeep to audio equipment, and other facility needs related to the operation.
- Travel to vessels to view new productions shows and documents show playback to aid in development of training coursework.
- Work alongside Operations/Production divisions to incorporate improvements for general production including contributing to the technical inner workings of new productions via subject matter expert knowledge and best practices of the specific discipline.
- Deliver group style HR shipboard training sessions to shipboard team members at Carnival Studios.
- Provide technical support to vessels via Issuetrak (online issue ticketing system) and telephone support as assigned by the Manager of Entertainment Technical, discipline specific.
- Participate in the recruitment of Entertainment Technicians alongside the Entertainment Casting & Booking Department as appropriate.
- Less than 25% with shipboard travel likely.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Live Entertainment Audio, Theatre, Theatre w/Audio Design & Production.
- At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Strong computer skills (P/C Windows & Mac), knowledge of industry standard software/hardware, proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite.
- Experience instructing in the field of live sound in the theatrical space and production on cruise ships.
- Strong teaching and facilitation skills.
- Ability to assess training needs and objectives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of curriculum within training plans.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse setting.
The range for this role’s base salary is $43,800 - $63,800. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
