Camera Operator - Donut Media

We're looking to hire great camera operators who love making stuff for YouTube and have a passion for cars and comedy. You should be independent, multifaceted, and resourceful, and have shot cars before.

Freelance, based in-person at our Inglewood, California headquarters – with the opportunity to grow to full time or move on to directing. We are constantly making videos and offer a steady stream of work!

$300-600 day rate, based on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Directors to help develop their vision.
  • Collaborate with Producers & Directors to understand their equipment needs for each individual project.
  • Ability to communicate visual needs to directors, talent, and production.
  • Proficiency in operating professional video cameras and related equipment to capture visually engaging footage, specifically the Canon C suite.
  • Prep camera and production equipment prior to shoots.
  • Ensure proper lighting and framing to achieve the desired visual aesthetic.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide support to the production team on set.
  • Take charge in situations where the camera operator is the only person present.
  • Travel to different locations depending on assignment.
  • Keep an eye on opportunities for improvement on a go-forward basis, conducting and sharing a self-assessment after the video has gone live and ideating ways to make the next video better than the last.
  • Be your own A/C. On larger shoots we'll have a dedicated A/C but we all wear multiple hats. Flexibility is huge!

Qualities:

  • A deep love of YouTube.
  • Experience shooting cars.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, high-pressure and time-sensitive environment.
  • Good comedic sense + awareness.
  • Professional experience is not necessary – BUT we want to see what you've done!
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Understanding the value of thorough communication and when to call vs. text vs. email.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Having a mindset of flexibility and willingness to wear multiple hats.
  • Having a generally pleasant vibe that people want to be around.
