RAD SCIENCE (a part of Real Chemistry), is an agency that produces unique and engaging scientific narratives, imagery, and educational experiences that support and enhance our client’s business objectives.

This is a hybrid role, based in any of our US offices—including New York City, Boston, Chicago, Carmel, or San Francisco—or remotely within the US, depending on team and business needs.

What you’ll do:

  1. Strategize, ideate, and iterate for a wide range of scientific visual communication projects.
  2. Work collaboratively with key team members (Creative Directors, Associate Creative Directors, Art Directors, Designers, Developers, other Production Artists, Scientific Strategists, and Account/Project Management Teams).
  3. Commits to having a strong understanding of the background and objectives of each assigned project.
  4. Attends and participates in project ideation, creative brainstorming, and all assigned internal project meetings – includes presenting work as requested.
  5. Concepts and explores creative solutions individually and/or collaboratively with the production team.
  6. Adheres to pre-established guidelines, instructions, aesthetic design concepts and client branding/pharmaceutical guidelines.
  7. Understands and executes the proper level of finish relative to the phase of development.
  8. Considers business objectives, user needs and best practices/trends to influence creative decisions.
  9. Stays detail-oriented, effectively balances multiple assigned projects, and iterates quickly and cleanly.
  10. Adheres to the organization conventions established by the department (i.e., file/server organization, layer/file/folder naming conventions).
  11. Works within designated company platforms/software to ensure smooth collaboration and transition of working files between team members.
  12. Responds promptly to any requests or questions from team members via email, Teams chat/calls based on the urgency of the request.
  13. Delivers work-in-progress (WIP) and final deliverable by the assigned deadline within the established timeline to the appropriate team member.
  14. Provides progress updates at the frequency designated by the Art Director (AD).
  15. Flags any concerns to the Art Director/Project Manager in a timely manner (i.e., delays to progress, gaps in understanding, software/technique troubleshooting).
  16. Maintains professional manner in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
  17. Incorporates constructive feedback while upholding a positive attitude.

Client Engagement

  1. May shadow and/or participate in client meetings with guidance from supervisor, AD, and/or Account Lead.
  2. With guidance from supervisor, AD, and/or Account Lead may participate in deliverable presentations and client reviews.

Professional Development

  1. Collaborates with supervisor on development of goals and works towards progress.
  2. Contributes and/or provides feedback to supervisor, leadership, and fellow team members with a solution-oriented focus.

What you should have:

  1. Strong understanding of composition, design principles, typography and content hierarchy.
  2. Solid experience in graphic/user interface design for a wide range of projects including:
    1. Desktop and mobile websites and applications.
    2. Wireframes, site maps, and prototypes.
    3. Convention booth print and digital graphics i.e. panels, kiosks, signage, etc.
    4. Medical campaign development and visual aids.
    5. Storyboards and design elements for animations and motion graphics.
    6. Print based experience: utilizing templates, understanding color conversion (spot, CMYK, RGB).
  3. Advanced experience in: Adobe XD, Illustrator, Figma, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat.
  4. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint.
  5. Able to present design concepts to other team members.
  6. Good organization and communication (written and oral) skills.
  7. Adept interpersonal skills with a desire to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Account, Strategy and Project Management.
  8. Working knowledge in animated media/motion graphics.
  9. Familiarity with experiential technology platforms (i.e. VR/AR/MR, etc.).

Education & Experience

  1. Minimum 2-4 years professional experience in a design studio environment.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art, computer graphics or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  3. Portfolio demonstrates exceptional creative execution and innovative solves to client problems or projects that show strategic and conceptual thinking.

Pay Range:

$75,000-$85,000

This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and geographical location. The Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
