Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician

Do you possess solid knowledge of GIS technologies, construction, utilities documents, terminology, and practices? Do you like the technical component of the job, but enjoy utilizing your interpersonal skills to daily interface with internal and external customers? If this is you, Colorado Springs Utilities is looking to hire a GIS Technician I, and we would love for you to join our Utility Data Management team!

In this job, you will partner with GIS professionals, engineers, and business partners to perform GIS editing for Utility data, provide paper/digital map documents to internal & external customers, and assist in coordinating utility infrastructure inspection activities.

Key Focus Areas:

Demonstrate skills and proficiency with ESRI products including ArcMap

Utilization of ArcFM, Schneider Tools, Maximo, and Microsoft Office products

Exposure to ArcGIS Pro, ArcCatalog, and Utility Network a plus

Perform GIS editing of linear and spatial, gas attributes with ArcFM

Basic understanding of construction standards and principles

Assist in reviewing and correcting data integrity errors related to gas utility data

Review and convert gas as-built information as well as gas service data from inspections and construction authoritative documents

Assist in creating monthly reports of installed/removed materials from as-built documents

Assist in retrieval of Infrastructure records for internal and external customers

Uploads gas documents into our enterprise document management system

Provide paper/digital map documents to external and internal customers

Participate in GIS field survey activities that pertain to our gas infrastructure

Who You Are:

Relevant and progressively responsible experience with GIS technologies

Familiarity with ESRI Roadmap and Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) is valued

GIS Certifications and/or a Bachelor’s degree in Geography or a closely related field is valued

Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver’s license is required
