Base pay range $120,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr Summary: The Design Manager will work with an experienced team of electrical, instrumentation & control systems (EI&C) engineers and designers that work on engineering projects. Typical projects include development and drafting of electrical and instrumentation design packages for midstream facilities which further includes designing metering stations, pump stations, LACT skids, interconnects, switchgear design, motor control center design, standby, emergency power systems and, lighting, pump station designs, lift station design, water/wastewater treatment plants etc. Responsibilities: Manage a team of senior CAD designers, designers, and junior CAD techs/staff. Manage incoming queue of projects for CAD execution and plan deliverables with engineers. Motivate and educate CAD staff and work towards enhancing processes and procedures within the CAD group. Oversee all CAD operations, including developing and maintaining client and CAD standards with key emphasis on streamlining CAD Design process to maximize efficiency. Troubleshoot problems, head quality control, and supervise the work of subordinates to ensure on-time drawing delivery to engineers. Train new operators and update training of subordinate computer technicians. Review completed construction drawings for accuracy and conformity to standards and regulations. Develop productivity tools. Work closely with IT to ensure company hardware and software are updated to allow proper CAD operation. Required Experience: 12+ years of experience as an expert drafter, designer and computer technician. Competent in current version AutoCAD and MicroStation. Technical knowledge of CAD operations and engineering specialty discipline. A resource person with knowledge of advanced applications of system hardware and software. Experience with project scheduling, personnel management and work production techniques. Effective communication skills both oral and written. Effective interpersonal skills with coworkers. Ability to build strong relationships. Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs.
