Lead the Communications Division within the Public Affairs Department, supporting the Public Affairs Officer in developing and executing a comprehensive, organization-wide communications strategy to strengthen the company’s reputation and advance its strategic objectives. Oversee and implement departmental operations, including internal and external communications, while collaborating cross-functionally with senior and executive leadership teams. Assistant Director of Communications Job Duties: Develop and implement organization-wide strategic communication plans to enhance awareness of the organization's programs, initiatives, and leadership. Oversee the daily operations of the Communications Division within the Communications and Public Affairs Department, supporting executive leadership and senior management with crisis communications and day-to-day activities. Serve as the organization's spokesperson, providing timely responses to media inquiries and fostering professional relationships with local, state, and national media representatives. Assist executive leadership with crafting messaging, official statements, speeches, and other organizational communications. Lead earned media strategies, securing story placements in prominent media outlets at the local, state, and national levels. Manage internal communications by delivering consistent and timely information to employees through various channels, including annual reports, newsletters, fact sheets, brochures, and digital media. Direct external communication efforts, including outreach to residents, elected officials, community organizations, government agencies, private sector partners, and the general public. Oversee the organization's branding and communications across online and print platforms, such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and industry publications. Develop and implement digital solutions, including videos, infographics, websites, and digital signage, to enhance communication effectiveness. Supervise the development and maintenance of the organization's website, ensuring clear, current, and easily navigable content delivery. Manage communications and editorial calendars to promote events and programs through internal and external publications. Establish and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve departmental efficiency and strengthen the organization's brand identity. Develop, manage, and adhere to the department’s budget, ensuring financial accountability and resource optimization. Supervise communications staff by setting performance goals, delegating tasks, and ensuring deadlines align with organizational objectives. Support the Assistant Director of Public Affairs with coordinating daily operations and executing special projects or initiatives. Demonstrate strong verbal, written, presentation, team leadership, and interpersonal communication skills. Perform assigned duties according to operational and procedural guidelines, including emergency response protocols at properties or locations serving residents and employees. Participate in Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) initiatives by attending training, contributing to workgroups, and engaging in project assignments to support and maintain TIC certification. Engage in equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives through training, workgroups, and project involvement to promote an inclusive organizational culture. Contribute to the organization’s data governance efforts by understanding and adhering to policies related to data roles, including Data Trustees, Data Domain Stewards, Data System Custodians, Data Stewards, and Data Users. Maintain flexibility with working hours, including availability for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related 10+ yrs in public relations, corporate communications, or marketing with focus on public & digital communications, social media & multi-media strategies.
