Position: Audio/Visual Technician

Duration: 3+ month contract with the potential to extend

Location: Des Plaines, IL & occasional travel to Skokie & Evanston locations (Fully Onsite)

Job Details:

1. Assist Media Services staff in the installation and maintenance of Client's AV, Computer, and Networking equipment/solutions. Assist faculty, students and others in the use of Client media technologies and troubleshoot their problems.

2. Provide delivery, set up, and return of media & computer based equipment used in classes, meetings, instructional spaces, and special events.

3. Analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot audio visual, instructional media and related computer and networking equipment. Provide support for the networked projectors systems and additional support for classroom computer based control systems.

4. Provide support for college-wide data networks for digital and streaming video

5. Provide secondary technical/Installation support for lecture capture, video conferencing, and digital streaming production initiatives.

6. Maintain communications with customers and internal support staff for the scheduling of all special events and other media related proceedings. Ensure timeliness of solutions, appropriate escalation of critical issues, and closure and documentation of outcomes.

7. Select, train, supervise and evaluate student employees.

8. Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Working Conditions:

1. Bachelor's degree in Communications, Computer Science, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

a. Evidence of a working knowledge of the basic technical operations involved in network operations is required.

b. Ability to utilize a keyboard to enter, retrieve and manipulate data is required.

2. Thorough knowledge of audio, video production, projection, lighting, staging, and/or video conferencing is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

3. A minimum of two years' experience with IP protocols in routed networks is preferred.

4. Two years' experience supporting video conferencing and lecture capture is preferred.

5. Two years of microcomputer repair experience is desirable.

6. One-year experience with digital media, graphic design software applications, and/or multimedia systems is preferred.

7. One-year experience with College-supported mainstream software applications (i.e. Word processor, spreadsheet/database, and web browser) is preferred.

8. A high level of interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to deliver services in an environment where there is an emphasis on customer service are required.

Physical Demands:

Work requires some lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and use of ladders. Ability to travel to both campuses. The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment.
