The Social Content Producer will be primarily responsible for producing breaking and trending news stories across social platforms, including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. This producer should have solid news judgment and be an excellent writer who can concisely explain news events while maintaining a consistent voice and tone. The Social Content Producer should know everything that people are talking about on the internet, and also what people aren’t talking about yet. This person will pitch and produce content to drive conversations around U.S. and world events. Though writing is the top requirement for concisely delivering tweets and other short news posts, producing graphics and short videos are also part of the gig. This role requires editorial experience with sourcing, verifying news and understanding what makes a compelling story. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Produce content, including written descriptions, short videos and graphics, for social platforms Lead coverage of live events on social media, including live tweeting or streaming live feeds Be comfortable under pressure in breaking news environments Take the lead on tracking trends and identify emerging stories on social Commission complementary content to go with stories such as GIFs, memes, etc Experiment with content creation and distribution strategies for new platforms Analyze social media trends to continually enhance best practices Deliver content with a consistent AJ+ voice and tone across emerging platforms EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor degree At least 3 years experience in online journalism.
