Position Overview:
RISA is looking for a Technical Writer/Editor to join the Cyber Tradecraft Services Team on its Transport and Cybersecurity Services Contract with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Tradecraft Services is responsible for the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions (WIs), and other documentation for NGA's Cybersecurity Operations Cell (CSOC), its knowledge management system, and the CSOC training program.
The ideal candidate is a skilled writer and editor, easy-going and flexible, organized and able to follow detailed processes, curious about the subject matter, comfortable working with subject matters experts, and eager to work as part of a small team responsible for a variety of official documentation and training solutions for CSOC personnel at one of the "Big 5" U.S. Intelligence agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Write and/or review and edit (proofread, copy edit, format) standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions (WIs), concepts of operation (CONOPS), and other official CSOC documentation, working closely with subject matter experts.
- Follow established internal guidelines for processing documentation through an official review, revision, and revalidation process that meets organizational standards to ensure high quality products.
- Assist in managing SharePoint document repository and shared folders, working to ensure effective file management and version control, while adhering to federal records management guidelines.
- Assist with reviewing and editing training materials, working with the team's training specialist as needed.
- Review and edit detailed PowerPoint presentations.
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance and willingness to take a counterintelligence (CI) polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, writing, English, journalism, or a related discipline, and at least five years of writing/editing experience. In lieu of a degree, candidates should have at least 8 years of writing/editing experience. - Ability to provide writing and/or editing samples (so you can SHOW us why you're right for this position)!
- Strong writing, editing, formatting, and proofreading skills. This position is approximately 90% editing and 10% original writing.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation in a timely fashion.
- An interest in the subject matter and the ability to do basic subject matter research.
- Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects and tasks efficiently.
- Experience with using style guides (e.g., AP Style).
- Skilled in using the following software tools:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft SharePoint
- Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of document and repository management practices.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working in an IT or cybersecurity environment or familiarity with these fields.
- Experience, education, or familiarity with instructional design and/or training development and management.
- Familiarity with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
Work Environment:
Professional Office Environment: Must be able to sit at a desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone.
- Must be able to communicate regularly via telephone and verbally present information to employees, customers, and outside vendors.
Expected Hours of Work:
- 40 hours per week based on the customer's core operating hours.
